‘Hangery’ – when you are so hungry you become angry
This word literally sums me up. Coming home from a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is think of what to eat, go an buy the ingredients, cook it and eat it. Breakfast is the first thing I eat when I wake up in the morning and no sooner have I finished that, I’m considering lunch. But my problem is time. Who actually has time to cook??!!
We live in an era where are people working harder and longer hours, with little time to cook. It is no surprise that convenience services like Hello Fresh are doing so well – they take the brain power out of thinking what to eat when all you can really think about is flopping in front of the TV with a beverage of your choice.
I am exactly one of those people – I adore food but would rather eat out at the end of the day. Once the hanger sets in, I am a ticking time bomb until I consume the next meal! I am further limited by my strict dairy free diet, which I started 6 months ago to help alleviate my Crohn’s symptoms.
Of course, this is no way to live and eating out far more than is good for me was taking a big toll on my bank balance. In the past few months, I have made a conscious effort to create meals from scratch and have been surprised how satisfying and successful I’ve been so far. That’s why I’ve launched this blog – to not only reignite my passion for food, but to share quick and easy recipes that I’ve tried (and failed) and refining my cooking skills along the way…
As an eternal foodie, I will also be reviewing restaurants I visit (because I’d be lying if I said I still don’t love being cooked for!)
